Devon Damonte, "35mm Film Nozzle #2" Cyanotype
Cyanotype on upcycled plastic graphic arts sheet film, 2021. 8-1/2 x 6 inches. Signed. The image is exposed in sunlight, a photogram of a cone form made from clear 35mm film leader, a refractory 'nozzle' that I also use to manipulate 16mm projector light in expanded cinema projection performances. The process I developed this year as I was learning to make cyanotypes on movie films, and concurrently working at a letterpress print shop where polymer plates are exposed with graphic arts sheet film, and the discarded scraps are no longer accepted for recycling. So I experimented coating these sheets by hand with cyanotype solution to create luminous transparent blues. It works! (Damonte).
