Glenn McKay, acrylic on board, 24 x 24 x 1.5 inches. Signed and dated lower right. From a series of number paintings. $600 plus shipping (on sale).

Glenn McKay was a painter and 1960s light show pioneer in San Francisco. He created live visuals with overhead projectors, slides, and 16mm film projectors. Inspired by fellow artist Tony Martin, at one of Kesey’s Acid Tests in 1966, McKay then created numerous shows at the Fillmore and Winterland, and toured with Jefferson Airplane as their official light show. Glenn also formed the Headlights with artist Jerry Abrams, and was a mentor to Joshua White (Joshua Light Show, Fillmore East). By 1970, tired of touring, McKay bought land in Humboldt County where he built a house and studio. He later retired to Mexico to paint. His artwork is in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and private collections.
