Oskar Fischinger, original drawing from the film Study no. 6
SOLD Original Animation Drawing from Oskar Fischinger’s film Studie Nr. 6 (1930). Charcoal on paper. Unsigned, numbered lower right. 9 x 11-1/4 inches. Drawn at his Berlin studio. (Inquire about availability of another drawing).
Fischinger’s popular series of Studies films, distributed to first run theatres worldwide, were milestones in the histories of musical cinema, music video, experimental animation and motion graphics. Fischinger produced Study no. 6 after he had conceptualized the aesthetic style and values of his seminal Studies, and had designed a production process allowing him to create and distribute additional Studies such that each would attain new and distinct musical and motion effects. The hand drawn images of Study no. 6 are charcoal images of signature Fischinger imagery that would be reversed in the printing process to appear in projection as an abstract choreography of light moving through darkened space.
Individually, the hand drawn images of Study no. 6 comprise delicate works on paper, snapshots of the larger process by which Fischinger would develop his expansive vision of a dynamic abstract cinema that was artist-driven, technically innovative, and emotionally rich. These early works on paper are animation drawings actually used for the film. They are also abstract works on paper from a key achievement in Fischinger’s pioneering work in cinematic abstraction (text courtesy CVM).
Price does not include full shipping cost. California sales tax added for CA sales. All sales are final. Artwork is unframed. For international orders, we will also need to add a shipping surcharge, to be paid separately. We prefer to ship via USPS or Fed Ex to US addresses.
